Gold

A lilting waltz time signature, military snares and a deliciously dark double-bass line provide a surreal and sparkling backdrop for 'Gold': the second shimmering instalment of the Lamb story that is as poignant as it is precious.

Transmission waxes and wanes in Lamb's own arrangements. Louise's vocal is by turns vulnerable and vital, and crystalline vibes blend with other-worldly atmospherics which glisten like nuggets in streams of meditative instrumentation.

Check Mr Scruff's mix for an aural change of seasons. Here, a melancholic violin serenades the warm, radiance of vocals, vibes and organs, whilst a syncopated percussive pulse buffs the arrangement to a high shine.

Authechre's 'Alchemy' mix distils the molten mass further, with a bassline that plumbs the depths of keen, metallic sounding elements, transforming them into an acidic experience that is rhythmically and instrumentally enriching.
