A study into 1991 music
I decided to look into 1991 due to the fact that here in the USA X-Gen music really isn’t played that much. Mostly Boomer music and Millinials. From Manchester you mostly here the Oasis song Shining Supernova or whatever. This could explain why the Madchester names from the late 80s including 808 St...

Re: 808 State set to reunite?
New 808 State sounds too much like Graham Massey, no offense to Graham who is a live musician into Jazz. Some of his remixes really make the listener scratch their head. Not really dance floor or listener friendly material. I suppose it was that way after Don Solaris but I would put Martin Price the...

My New Album
It's been a rough year for everyone and I may have gotten a little too enthusiastic posting to 808 State's forum in the past. Of course, 808 State brings back memories of my rave youth when electronic music was just better all around. From Frank De Wulf to Adamski to Guru Josh. Well in the same spir...

Re: Dance Music against Trump, Boris & Farage 3 Dec 2019 London
Actually, David or anyone that likes Trump, Boris, or the UKIP can show up at this event and show that you are a Tory, UKIP, or wear a MAGA hat. It doesn’t say you can’t show up at the event and oppose the Labor Party, Jeremy Corbin etc. as long as get tickets. In fact I dare any Tory, UKIP supporte...

Re: Dance Music against Trump, Boris & Farage 3 Dec 2019 London
David, I hate to break it to you but 808 State and most dance acts from the 80s, early 90s rave days are pretty liberal. You know the Thatcher, Raegan decade. It was no secret back then either. Some records were political in the use of sampling. Techno artist Jeff Mills made the statement recently i...

The last photo. It’s cool 808 State still used vintage synths and drum machines.

Re: New 808 State EP "Initial Granada Report" out 12 July 2019
Tokyo reminds me a bit of Kraftwerk - Elektro Kardiogramm. You can mix Bombadin chants over the first track Ujala. I still miss the album 90 days with the orchestra stabs and synth portamento riffs. The old school flavor. Like how 808 State brought back some sampling. Be interesting if they brought ...

Re: Nice mixes (no 808 State tracks involved)
Wow! I didn't realize I posted so much crap here. What a wnker. Well instead of mixes here's a radio show concept. The concept is just play fun old dated retro dance tunes and call it an oldies format. The show is structured like a radio station with station ID's. Some Manchester talent in there inc...

808 State - EX:EL (Album Review) http://youtu.be/0qrfc3cjV_Q The Wonky Angle Published on Jan 6, 2018 Good to see young people discovering 808 State. edit - I didn't hear his other 808 State album reviews but spot on I'd say in evaluating the tracks. Pretty much how people in the very early 90s saw ...

Re: Gareth Whitehead - The Brood Remixed (featuring remix by 808 State) - out 3 July 2017
I'm actually looking for decent dance music for laptop DJ sets, there's a lot of poor taste EDM and dance music out there. 808 State did a decent job, so did Juan Atkins.
