New favourite 808 State album poll including Outpost
Here's the new poll, plus Outpost, minus The North at it's Heights. Please all vote again and let's see which album can make second place.
Comparing new releases at the time, OT must be the least played of all the new albums, whilst 90, ex-el and Don Solaris remained on a continous loop upon release, I haven't played OT for a while now and only select certain tracks when I do.
Where is the rush you used to get when playing Cobra Bora, Olympic, Nimbus, Jerusahat etc. Only Suntower seems to provide this yet its effects don't last.
For me it's an album without emotion and Don Solaris is the only one where each play rewards the listener with a different dimension to its structure.
Not that OT is a bad album, just not the bands best effort.
I look forward to the American version which, with its re-arranged listing, could rival Uncle Don.

I like Outpost Transmission.
No adrenalin rushes but like Don Solaris it is a much more mature work or should I say a piece of art.It has the most depth I feel of any 808 album and I have voted it as the best 808 album!
Ninety was my previous fave but this is longer and has more soul.
I feel it builds up do a soulful deep climax.
Tracks 12-14 just blend into each other and are a total delight.
Also love Dissadis aswell as all the vocal tracks.
606 is a great opening.
808 have changed and have grown up.
There is a worldy sound to them now.Long may it continue.

Cubik on 90?
Markus,
Obviously you have overlooked the special releases in Japan and America as lilian808 states "when i first heard cubik, i totally flipped out. 90 is a brilliant album!!" Which is slighty inaccurate as the UK etc got cubik on Ex:el and Utd State 90 got cubik and the quardstate remixes. Why don't we include every album and see how many votes Forecast or State to State get?
L8RS,
John

track poll
i'd like to see an individual track poll (not including remixes) - can you list 136 or close to that? (i was including mp3 exclusives aswell).
or how about if every forum member gave their dream top 10, couldn't markus compile a chart?
ok we all say what our favourite single or album is, but most of the tracks i like best weren't on the normal 808 releases..
i.e. Spanish Marching (available on a compilation FROM MANCHESTER WITH LOVE then THERMO KINGS import).
Minton (available on compilation GIMME SHELTER & now MP3 download),
Quincy's Lunch (limited 7" only) - (then reworked or ruined on Outpost transmission JAP import).

eep...
i had to go with Don Solaris. As fun and fantastic as all the other albums are, its the one that tugs at me the most. I'm sure the committee would be very pleased with me
