808 & Gerald to remix Jimmy Cauty (KLF)?

Post by nickking »

Just found this news:

"You probably already know this but Jimmy Cauty has launched a new band called BLACK SMOKE. First track is called GIMPO GIMPO (named after BJ of course! ;) ). Features a remix by 808 state (under the name of Kompressor). Guy called Gerald may be creating a remix as well.

website to check http://www.blacksmoke.org/"

I haven't been able to go to the site to check, and Markus won't be able to confirm until next week, but sounds great!

I had heard this, but was doubtful as to the truth as Kompressor sounded a bit strange. Why not remix it as 808 State???

Still, sounds interesting, keeping an eye out for promos.

Well, exactly - unless it becomes confirmed by 808 themselves, I'm going to treat it with a pinch of salt...

Since I like the KLF anyway, I'll still buy the promos even if it hasn't anything to do with 808.

Site's not too bad, though!! :D

Got it now. Could be 808, certainly sounds a bit 808'y but not totally sure, pretty damn good tho. :P

I just e-mailed Black Smoke and they replied :

'Its by Andy(808) and a m8'

So Mr Barker's remix talents are being aired.

Superb news!

He has done a couple of other remixes: Soft Ballet 'Twist & Turn' & Semtex's 'Falling'.

Listening to the edit now!

I had some problems downloading the file due to Flash and Quicktime so the direct link for the MP3 is as follows: (right click and download link) http://www.crapola.com/blacksmoke/gimpo1.mp3
