Can you study to 808 state?

Post by Vadertech »

Does anyone here find it possible to do school work to anything 808 state? I find Ex:el to be my study album sometimes. Im surprised considering it containes Cubik and LeoLeo, such high energy tracks.

Whilst studying for my GCSE's (years ago now) I spent the entire time with EX:EL :D , Doctor Adamski's Musical Pharmacy :) and En-Tact :P on random repeat, and I managed to pass them. So I can only assume that it is possible, don't listen to Bob or Zappa though or you're bound to fail 8)
I think you know what I mean!

Well, I listened to both A Guy Called Gerald's "Hot Lemonade" album and "Ex:El" whilst studying for my degree just over a decade ago...

So, yup, it is possible, as I passed it in the end! :D

Yup, spent many a lazy afternoon (ahem) studying to EX:EL and it ain't done me no harm, wouldn't recommend 90 tho, too chilled out for study.

I have a special 808 chill out compilation CD I put together perfect for those relaxing moments, I don't think it would help anyone with any exams tho, unless of course you can obtain a degree in the art of 808 State, now there's a thought, why not???

I think I'd left college by the time Ex-el was released, must have studied to the sounds of the Cobra. I remember introducing 90 to my mates and we used to have it on on a walkman in the pub playing pool........bliss!!

I'd say that the first 3 tracks on the b-side of Gorgeous would be perfect. For a hole 808 album Ex:El would definetly be the best one.

But I'll tell you. Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue is the best! Period.

When I had to study hard back in the days, I would put this on repeat and put the volume so it just about masked the background noise. Sets you in the mood.

I listened to 'Excel' and The KLF 'The White Room' all the time during my A-Levels, and failed them all. I would've asked for my money back but I'd nicked the KLF tape and I wasn't giving up Excel for such a minor reason.

studying to 808 is pointless, all youll end up doing is ignoring your work, and listening to the phenomenal rhythm :D

I would have to agree about Orbus Terrarum though...you cant really dance to it, but its kickass all the same and so great to study to
