Chances of 808 producing Bjork's next album

Post by Supraset »

I think that 808 always seem to be at their creative best when they are working with a vocalist.

I always wondered why 808 never produced one of Bjork's albums. What are the chances that 808 could produce her next and what does the board think?

Graham Massey did work on the production of Bjorks Debut album did he not?

Engineering tracks and he also worked on the single Army Of Me from her second album so in a way she was always conected with 808. She wanted them to produce her first album and at the time 808 were working on Ex:EL so they asked her if she would like to sing on it and behold Qmart and Ooops. :D

As for her next album, ask Graham.

No Graham didn't work on Debut... that was Nellee Hooper.

I was talking about 808 being involved in the production such as Nellee Hooper was on Debut or Mark Bell on Homogenic. Where they produce ALL of the tracks.

Man I wonder what Debut would have sounded like with the 808 touch. Well I love that album as is so prolly for the best.

I just think Ooops, Qmart, Planets, Army of Me are such great tracks... <have I missed anything?> would be great to hear an entire album.

Don't forget the fantastic Massey and Bjork track 'Karvel', an absolute corker and personal favourite.

Most of the work Graham did with Bjork was at the early stages, I believe
Army of Me could probably have been included on Debut but Bjork wanted to use her earlier experiments. And I have to admit, that if Army of Me (that I also love) was dropped, to fit in tunes like 'Venus as a Boy' it was a good decision.

I seen bjork a couple of years back playing a small venue called the SFX in Dublin, apart from not realising that her support act was 'Tricky' the gig warmed up with a strange tape of tunes, with everything from classical to jazz. Somewhere in the middle of this tape (unmixed) was a couple of very 808 sounding vibes, and I can only guess this was one of Graham's mix tapes for Bjork. See the dedication to Graham for 'Headphones' on 'Post'. A cool sound indeed!
