UB40 Vs. 808 State One In Ten Mixes Wanted

Post by ThePrisoner »

Hi Guys,
Im new to this forum and im a UB40 fan from the UK. I was wondering if anyone has the following mixes available in mp3 format that i may download from you:

One In Ten (Forceable Lobotomy Mix)
One In Ten (Gorgeous Sample)

You guys are my only hope as us UB40 fans cannot find these mixes anywhere.

Big Love

Also guys just found out there was a Common Sensus Mix that only appeared on a special Australian DJ promo. Anyone have this?

Okay, well the Gorgeous sample is just literally that - a 2 minute sample of the song (it could be the first two minutes, but I haven't checked out the original version of 'One In Ten' to compare).

As for the Austrian promo, that is most likely a remix for DJ's vinyl/CD - I know that there is one out there with a mix of 'One In Ten' on it, but I tend not to bother with them as they cost a small fortune for what is essentially a non-official remix of the song (i.e. it could be anyone remixing it).

The 'Forceable Lobotomy' mix on CD is very hard to find - it took me ages to track down a copy, as it was discontinued pretty quickly (if memory serves me correctly). There was a 7"/12"/CD5 of ZANG35 - I've currently only got the 7" and CD single - haven't managed to track down the 12" yet, although it *could* be readily for sale somewhere (for those sellers that don't list the tracklistings and/or catalogue number).

The mix does, however, feature on the US promo 12" doublepack (SAM 1092), which also features an exclusive 'taster' version of the instrumental mix (edited down to about 3 minutes). This is 'fairly' common and should be able to be picked up for relatively little cash (as compared to ZANG35).

With the ZTT reissues slated at *some* point in the future (CDs with extra tracks, etc - according to Graham's recent interview on the Milk Factory website), the mix *might* appear on these, which is why I haven't yet offered an MP3 download of it!

Good luck in your quest!

Cheers,

Is that Forceable Lobotomy mix that bad? Or was there another reason it was withdrawn so quickly?

No, actually it's great, with acid squelches. I assume it was the vocal sample "Forceable Lobotomy" that caused problems. Graham?

Oh and quoting Nick:
US promo 12" doublepack (SAM 1092)
He meant UK promo, not US :)

It could be the fact that the addition of the 'Forceable Lobotomy Mix' makes the number of mixes on the CD single total 6, which (from memory), meant that the single wouldn't be eligible for chart inclusion?

BTW, the only vocal throughout the particular mix is "Forceable Lobotomy" (so not much UB40 connections, anyway)! :P

Oh, and John, I'd rather keep the CD single - cheers for the offer! :D

l8rs,

Nick ;)

The forcable lobotomy mix isn't that different to the other mixes too much. It took me a while to get the CD too and it ain't really worth that much chasing (other than for sad collectors like me)

The common census mix is a cheap remix that appeared on a mix CD call 'art of compliation' by art of mix. It also features musical luminaries such as Erasure and Suzanne Vega amongst others. I did have a copy somewhere but god knows where. Trust me it is NOT worth tracking down!

I thought it was withdrawn due to problems between VIRGIN & WEA/ZTT. :-?

PS. Nick, the offer stands if you come accross another copy.
