I'd hope, at the very least, for a limited run of multi-region DVDs, or an ntsc VHS copy for those of us without a region-free player. I am sure us Yanks on this board would gladly pay a premium for such!

It's not as simple as that. Bottom line is probably money, i.e. Universal decide if they think there's a big enough market for a Region 1 Optibuk DVD in the US or not. Possibly based upon who many copies it sold in the UK.
I'm trying to find out who to contact at Universal about it, which is a bit like finding a needle in a haystack...

Right, I've now had a statement from ZTT and it's not good news for our friends in Northern America:
"Our deal with Universal is now terminated. We are currently talking to new licensors but wouldn't forsee a release until 2003 (if ever!) in the US."
