English to American

Post by SnowLeopardess »

Being an American I find that some of the things you English say are a little confusing to me. Sometimes I don't know if you like something or not! :D So, I found this great website to "translate" for me so I'm no longer clueless. Yay!

Quite a good site. With some interesting words included.

Right I'm off to the off-licence for my fave tipple and bob's your uncle, fanny's your aunt I'll be shitfaced later. Let's hope the gaffer doesn't find out or it'll all go tits up and she'll be having kittens and I'll be looking for an elastoplast and skirting round for a good solicitor. Or maybe I'll get a snog and a shag if she's feeling randy! Gordon Bennett what a kerfuffle!

Wotcher and toodle-pip.

And you geezers over the pond, no I'm not taking the piss!

i've recently moved to london after living up north all me life, and its amazing how much of this is true even within our own country, i'm always having to repeat and explain what i say to the lads at work, its like a different language. i guess its the same everywhere!
