I was there! Wicked set, guys, you obviously enjoyed it as much as we did.
Loved it when Graham played the Pacific State solo live. Must admit I'd always assumed all these years that it was played on a saxophone. I wasn't quite sure what the instrument was at first, as it looked like a clarinet but had a metal body - I didn't know there was such a beast before, but I've googled around and there were quite a few from the early 20th century.
Here's a couple more clips I've found so far:

Yes its a straight saxophone -you can get contrabass (the biggest) Bass(still like a radiator) Baritone (big ) Tenor (the most comman) Alto (also comman)
soprano (high sounding curved or staight)and sopranino (tiny straight sax)
The one in Pacific is Soprano.
The sax is a relativly new instrument invented in 1840 s by Adolfe Sax (a belgian) The soprano sax was the 1 st instrument in space -taken up by Ron Mc Nair on the space shuttle Chalenger-him and his sax died when he took it up again and it blew up. The above clip is John Coltrane from 1962 ,He was responsable for making the Soprano popular (it was very obscure until then) Coltrane is God!

Re:
Didn't Ron McNair take it up becasue he was suppose to record a piece for Jean-Michel Jarre. It was going to be the first piece of music ever recorded in space. I even think they were planning for him to play it live on a video-link from space during one of Jean-Michel's concerts.graham wrote:The soprano sax was the 1 st instrument in space -taken up by Ron Mc Nair on the space shuttle Chalenger-him and his sax died when he took it up again and it blew up.
Jean-Michel still released it as a tribute to Ron (Ron's piece on Rendez-Vous)
