What's the Plan?
A general point: What's the plan for 808 State in terms of a new album, etc? I know there's been the Prebuild and New Order stuff recently, and the "side projects". Are there any plans for a new album soon or are they just gonna wait and see what happens?
Are 808 still signed to Circus?

The Circus has indeed left town, and with out wanting to share the gory details
have not yet accounted to us or the MCPS etc .The whole expierience of the last album was one of enormous struggle (a trail of unpaid or late paid bills by them,)and I for one would never deal with them again,(i would nt say this is unique in the music bizz at this time, things have definately changed)
It may all get sorted, but Im just giving you a clue as to the status of the situation,(why its not that available etc)

so graham why don't you try and sign with rephlex?
they would surely understand what 808 states needs are.
i don't really know about the music industry, management, labels and all that so forgive me if my question is a little uneducated but of all labels rephlex would be my first choice for 808 state every time.

Thanks for the reply Graham - there can't be many bands who reply directly to postings from fans! Much appreciated.
Didn't know about the Circus controversy. Tossers.
What about Warp? They surely would be good for 808, they originated in The North (or what people in England call the North - in case any fellow Scots think Warp come from Inverness or Lerwick) and have the added advantage of being cool as f**k.

If Outpost sounds like Plaid, then my "Spokes" CD must be by another artist. Warp already have about 90 acts who sound a lot more like Plaid than 808 ever did, including Squarepusher, Boards of Canada, Mira Calix and !!!.graham wrote:warp were aproached to put out Outpost but declined as they though it sounded to much like plaid????
Rephlex are also a bit iffy about newer stuff.
I think contactually the rights to Outpost re now ours (ie their side of the contact doesnt hold up) so we ll have to see with time (and agro )
They're all great, but I don't see the connection in terms the sound of 808 and those bands.
To be honest I wouldn't be too bothered what label 808 were on, as long as they were still making records the way only they can.
PS- What's Martin Price up to these days? Anybody know?
there should be an interview in record collector next issue, with Me gerald, martin and aphex about Prebuild may be we will find out what martins up to..Theres always noise going on when i ring and he seems to be making music but anymore than that i dont know..ive just done an interview for poptones (internet thing?) so look out for that
Poptones interviews are located at....

Graham's isn't up yet but in the meantime there's quite a few decent ones including Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub (Yeah!), Tony Wilson of Factory/Granada/Manchester etc. and "John Hassal" (don't know if this is the guy of Voiceprint fame or someone else).
Looking forward to seing Mr Massey's interview.

Would be great to see 808 signed to Warp or Rephlex but let's face it any new material has got to be good. I think we gotta thank our lucky stars for Prebuild and for the time being hang tight for Quadrastate. Andy is obviously doing his own thing and haven't heard about Daz for a while. Is this the beginning of the end? I hope not.
Although some new material would be superb, Graham are there any 'cut-offs' from OT that could be used? Fahita is a fantastic track. Perhaps a new EP could be sorted?

The interview isn't in the current release of the Record Collector magazine (out today), so maybe next month?graham wrote:there should be an interview in record collector next issue, with Me gerald, martin and aphex about Prebuild may be we will find out what martins up to..Theres always noise going on when i ring and he seems to be making music but anymore than that i dont know..ive just done an interview for poptones (internet thing?) so look out for that
