The Stu Allen influence

Just swung my arse around the specialist to grab the Record Collector.

I notise Stu Allen radio show as an 808 State influence. What can people tell me about him/the show?

Needless to mention I am a sucker for those old radio shows. I have deep regrets I did not tape more of the classic Danish shows of the era, and I am always on the hunt. Anybody know a place to catch a download of this lads show. Any era really but the one in mention is the 87-89 Newbuild days. Those would be great.

i might have some on cassette from 88 which is the era when i was hooked ,not shure i continued into the 90s as we obviously had the d and a show on sunset , ill root about as usual..i know ive got one when stacker humanoid came out.

i've got a mix from 88 as well its Sefton (infamous Manc beatboxer) introducing a best of 88 hip hop mix by Chad Jackson on Stu Allans buss diss show, i was still hooked on stu allan in 92 as well for all the hardcore rave stuff

That proper oldschool site looks "proper wack". That guy is selling those sets which don't even belong to him. Thats so lame and just plain wrong! Thats as bad as what Fantasia was doing.

Don't agree. Who do sets belong to? OK, so he's making some money from it, but many of these sets would be burried on cassette in someone's drawer instead of being made available to the world. Properoldskool has done a fantastic job on restoring old 808 State Radioshows and is making them available, for free, on the 808 State website.
If you've ever digitalized an old cassette, you'll know how much work it is. Hours. And for that he can ask for some money in my book.
The real bungholes just copy everything from the internet, burn it to CD and then sell it on ebay. See posting: The cheek of it!!!!

Your right, encoding old cassettes is a lot of work. But since the cassette doesn't belong to me legaly I would not sell it, that would be wrong. Insead I view rave tapes as being public domain. Its modern day folk music, its music for the people by the people. It should be shared, not sold (unless your a rave super star like 808 State or Carl Cox).

Also I grabbed one of the 808 State radio shows you mentioned. I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I get a chance to listen to it.

Ohh and 808 State would be pleased with me, I purchased Pre-Build today at Borders Book Store. I had to special order it.
