Report:
Got to the Academy during Hooky's set around 10:30.
Running order:
10pm: Hooky
11pm: Da Silva
12pm: 808 DJs
1-3pm: Park & Pickering
The place really started get going during Jon Da Silva's very nice set. He played a load of Detroit classics, fantastic stuff. As the zero hour approached, it was time for Darren to take over the decks. He opened his set with the only hip-hop record played all night, but boy did it rock - It Takes Two by Rob Base & E-Z Rock! More classics flowed and when Andy hit the decks at half time he kicked off with one of my faves: Hardfloor's Acperience. Two hours of non-stop extatic dancing. When Graeme Park took the stage, the music started to get a bit more 'for the ladies' which is probably what he used to play at the Hacienda anyway. He took turns with Mike Pickering and classics like LFO's LFO were dropped. I remember being praised all night by ravers for my Japanese 808 t-shirt.
Then 3am, and, I was hoping for it, Andy took the stage once more and dropped the tune which closed the Hacienda nights for months and months back in the days - Pacific State. Mental.
Here's a selection of tunes played which we (Riz and I) remembered:
New Order: Krafty
Blur: Song 2
Sex Pistols: Anarchy In The U.K.
New Order: Confusion
R-Tyme: R-Theme
Phuture Pfantasy Club: Slam
Rhythm Is Rhythm: Nude Photo
Rhythm Is Rhythm: Beyond The Dance
Fingers Inc.: Can You Feel It
Farley Jackmaster Funk: Love Can't Turn Around (2x)
Rob Base & E-Z Rock: It Takes Two
Hardfloor: Acperience
808 State: Cubik
Adamski: NRG
LFO: LFO
A Guy Called Gerald: Voodoo Ray
Lil Louis: French Kiss
Royal House: Can You Party
Inner City: Good Life
Kraze : The Party
Black Box: Ride On Time
Robin S: Show Me Love
Alison Limerick: Where Love Lives
808 State: Pacific State
Charles B: Lack Of Love (Adonis)
Mory Kante: Yeke Yeke (Hardfloor Remix)
Kenny Jammin Jason: Can U Dance
Adonis: No Way Back
Anyone else who was there remember any other tunes?
Great night, thanks 808, thanks Wilson House.
