Planet of Love 2006 (Helsinki)

Post by TurboManc »

Just thought I would share my brief report from last week's Planet of Love Festival here in Finland, which featured Hacienda Room and many Mancunain songs and influences, including 808's "Pacific".
Planet of Love, Helsinki (05/12/2006)

Main Hall I Planet Of Love (1)
Mr A; Orkidea; Der Dritte Raum; Mauro Picotto; Art Of Trance; Fergie

Main Hall II Official Hacienda Soundsystem with Pussy Club (2)
Milla Lehto; Jay Mellin (house & acid classics); Arthur Baker; Peter Hook; Rui Da Silva;

Freeform with Mantra Vibes (3)
Infekto; Madox; Santos; Dillinja

FBI with Renegade (4)
Lil' Tony; Mantronik; Fast Eddie
What an awesome night!! Definitely the best selection of tunage I’ve heard here in Finland (been here many times on holiday before and have been living here now for the past 3 months). There were some big names in the Main Hall, but I think the Hacienda Room was definitely the best place to be. Unfortunately I missed most of Jay Mellin’s set, but his last 15 minutes were really good.

Baker & Hookey were excellent too, rocking raving and rolling back the years with timeless classics from yesteryear, mixed in with a few newer tunes: including Pacific, Blue Monday, 24 Hour Party People, Krafty, London Calling, Anarchy in the UK, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Galva-nise (Chem Bros), Rocker (Alter Ego), Put Your Hands Up For Detroit, and many more that I can’t remember.

I did venture into the Main Hall every now & then to see some of the other DJ’s and then later on went into Room 3 to see Dillinja. In fact all the DJ’s were very good and everyone put on a great show, but I kept coming back to the Haç.
