Post by Magical Dream »

Do we know what 808 State themselves listen to? What are their drivers? What do they think is cool?

I have seen Andy mention Sonic Youth before,Darren Busta Rhmes and Buggles :D

And Graham Beastie Boys and Martin Denny.

i'm more interested in hearing what the other visitors to this site listen to – both in terms of genres and specific artists. i'm sure it isn't all hardcore techno people in here – not that i'm knocking those who are! but i think of 808 as a (cliché ahoy) crossover band, and i suspect their audience reflect this.

as far as what genres we listen to, maybe there's some way of polling this – markus?

Good idea, maybe not a poll. Please feel free to just start a new topic in the music forum. Something like: What style of music do you listen to?

To get back to the original question:

I think they obviously have wide tastes, but basically: Graham = Jazz, Andy = Detroit Techno & Breakbeat, Darren = Indie & Breakbeat.
Secretly all three are into UK garage, R&B swingbeat and Happy Trance

Well, my list could just go on and on.

Heres a few (well a lot actually):
808 State, Future Sound Of London, Orbital, The Shamen, Prodigy, New Order, Happy Mondays, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Jamiroquai, Sting/The Police, Moby, Armin van Buuren, Daft Punk, Solar Stone, Paul Oakenfold/Planet Perfecto, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Guns n' Roses, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Linkin Park, Limp Biskit, Kraftwerk, Leftfield, REM, Faithless........

The list could go on!

Well, thats a few anyway :)
