I am currently researching for a book to cover all the classic manchester bands:
Buzzcocks
Joy Division
Smiths
New Order
The Fall
Stone Roses
808 State
Happy Mondays
Morrissey
Inspiral Carpets
Charlatans
James
Oasis
Doves
Badly Drawn Boy
Elbow
In each band section I want to include a section of fan's comments. So if anyone wants any of their opinions on any of these bands to be put into print, please email them to me at:
otisberg@nme.com
Please include your:
a) First name
b) Age
c) Town (and country if outside the UK)
Any contributions will be considered. How do the bands inspire you? Why Manchester inspires such good bands, reflections on seeing them live etc.
I will keep any contributors updated on the progress of the book.
Thanks

And God Created MAN-chester
Yeah that sounds like a great idea to do an updated review of the music of the Manchester scene. I would love to share my views with you if you let me know what kind of angle you're after.
Also, have you read Sarah Champions book And God Created MAN-chester? If you have not got it or seen it maybe you should. It came out around the time when the Manchester scene was in full swing and delivered a view of the history of Manc bands from the past and up to that time.
I felt though that her coverage of 808 was not in depth enough really. She went into some bands like the Mondays and the Smiths greatly but 808 seemed to get washed over. Also there wasn't many pics of 808 compared to the other bands too. I am sure you won't make that error as you are obviously an 808 fan.
Keep up the good work.
